A reader recently asked me for the exact specs of my Ubuntu PC, which I recently purchased from Dell. Here are the specs, but please note that I’m still waiting for the PC to arrive.
For (US) $1,290.00, I purchased the following system:
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor at 2.13GHz with 4MB cache
- 2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
- Dell USB keyboard
- 22 inch LCD display
- 256MB nVidia video card
- 320GB serial ATA 2 Hard Drive with 7200RPM
- Dell 13-in-one media card reader
- Ubuntu Desktop Edition 7.04 with 1 year basic support
- Dell USB 2-button mouse
- Integrated NIC cvard
- No modem requested
- 16X DVD-ROM and 16X DVD+/-RW
- Integrated audio
- Dell 30 Watt 2.1 steeo speakers and subwoofer
- 1 year limited warranty
- Extended support from Ubuntu (Dell doesn’t offer support for Ubuntu, even though it comes pre-installed)
I also paid about (US) $110.00 in tax, for a total bill of about (US) $1400.00. I expect the system to ship around June 12 with an arrival date sometime shortly thereafter. I’ll let you know how it goes.
